Expansion Plan of Dung Quat Refinery in Vietnam

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) under Vietnam's state-owned PetroVietnam will carry out expansion of Dung Quat Refinery at Quang Ngai province in the central part of Vietnam. The construction is scheduled to start in August 2021. The refining capacity of Dung Quat Refinery will increase from 145,000 b/d to 190,000-192,000 b/d. Dung Quat Refinery began operations in 2009 and uses domestically produced Bach Ho crude oil as a raw material. It just resumed operations after completing 50 days of regular maintenance in September. The contractor of the expansion works is selected via a tender and there are three candidates: PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation and Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation, known as LILAMA, Hyundai E&C and Technip Italy. The contractor will be decided as early as November. The cost of the expansion is estimated to be $1.8 bil.
