China energy production and consumption gradually recover

According to the National Energy Administration in China, energy production and consumption in the country were gradually recovering.

During January to September, power consumption rose 1.3% from the same period last year. Natural gas consumption increased. Since March, natural gas consumption has been rising every month. The pace of increase also accelerated. For oil products, the rise in consumption in the third quarter exceeded that in the second quarter by 12 percentage points.

At the same time, oil and natural gas production continued to increase. Crude production for the period January to September rose 1.7% on year to 146 mil mt while natural gas production was up 8.7% on year to 137.1 bil cubic meters. Coal production was also stable.

Overall, energy production and consumption are showing signs of a recovery. Stable supply/demand helps in the fight to curb the spread of COVID-19 and in efforts to bring about an economic recovery.
