The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) announced on Thursday that its crude oil basket price from Wednesday was quoted at $45.34/ bbl, up $1.07 from the previous day. The weekly average OPEC basket price until Jul 31 was at $43.23/bbl, down 68cts from the previous week.
The OPEC basket price is a weighted average of spot prices for major crude grades. The reference basket comprises of 14 grades. They are Algerian Saharan Blend, Angolan Girassol, Congo's Djeno, Ecuador's Oriente, Equatorial Guinea's Zafiro, Gabon's Rabi Light, Iran's Iran Heavy, Iraq's Basra Light, Kuwait's Kuwait Export, Libyan Essider, Nigerian Bonny Light, Saudi Arabian Arab Light, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Murban, Venezuela's Merey.
