Golden Island in Singapore to supply 0.5%S bunker fuel

2019/02/14 19:20

Golden Island Diesel Oil Trading Pte Ltd, a bunker supplier in Singapore, announced on Thursday that it would start supply of bunker fuel with sulfur content of 0.5% or less from March 1, which would meet the sulfur cap regulation leading by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) from 2020. The company would use its bunker barge named M.T Golden Jubilee (3,944 dwt).

Specifications of the fuel are reportedly said as density at 50 degrees at 232.40 cst, flash point at 66 degrees centigrade, pour point at 9 degrees centigrade, Aluminum + Silicon at 15mg/kg, and sulfur at 0.46%. Furthermore, Golden Island would also use Mass-flow-meter (MFM) for measuring supply volumes.

In Singapore, movements toward the sulfur cap regulation starting from 2020 are becoming active such as many Japanese shipping companies made moves to use the fuel on a trial basis from February.
