2019/04/12 12:00

Lotte Chemical Corp in South Korea started operation of a new ethane cracker (ECC) in the Louisiana state of the US. The construction began in 2014 and the completion ceremony is going to be held in May. Lotte Chemical started commercial production of ethylene glycol (EG) at the same site in February this year. ECCs are facilities to produce ethylene, a basic feedstock of petrochemical products, from ethane, a by-product of shale gas. The production capacity of this new facility is 1.00 mil mt/year for ethylene and 700,000 mt/year for EG. After the completion of the facility, Lotte Chemical’s total ethylene production capacity will reach 4.50 mil mt/year within and outside of South Korea.
