RECX-22 posts fall on three straight weeks on plunge in LNG and jet fuel: week to Feb 16

The Rim Energy Composite Index-22 (RECX-22) average for the week to Feb 16 tumbled by 4.92 points to 107.13, marking a fall in three straight weeks along with weaker crude and stronger yen.

 

The overall domestic index was down 1.32 points to 108.15. Gasoline dived by 3.89 points on softened crude and weaker buying interest for delivery in the Hanshin area. All other components also headed lower.

 

The overall import fell by 6.00 points to 101.92. In particular, liquefied natural gas (LNG) tumbled 11.89 points amid a loose supply/demand balance. Jet fuel was dragged down by weak Singapore futures and posted a significant 8.77 points decline on week.

 

The overall export index was down 7.44 points to 111.32. Benzene fell by 6.54 points from a week earlier in line with weakened buying interests as Chinese New Year holidays began.
