Singapore to build largest floating solar farm at Kranji Reservoir
A new mega floating solar farm will be constructed at the Kranji Reservoir in northern Singapore. The solar farm, the largest solar facility on the island, is expected to be able to produce 141 MW-peak (MWp) of clean energy. The country already has one operational floating solar power facility (60 MW), and construction has begun on two additional sites (44 MW and 100 MW).
Construction work for the solar farm will start at Kranji Reservoir in 2025, and the solar farm will be operational from 2027 to 2028. Singapore's solar power generation capacity, including non-floating facilities, is currently 1.2GW. Once the Kranji farm begins operations as planned, Singapore will be able to achieve the government's 2GW solar power generation target by 2030. The power generation capacity of 2GW is expected to be able to cover the electricity consumption of around 350,000 households.
