Indonesia starts to test B40 in railcars
Indonesia started to test bio-diesel B40 on railcars. B40 consists of 60% of diesel oil and 40% of biofuel produced from palm oil. The test was conducted between Lempuyangan Station, Yogyakarta, and Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta in July. The government in the country aims to reduce fuel imports and improve national finance by increasing the use of domestically produced bio-diesel from palm oil, in addition to environmental measures such as reduction of exhaust gases. In the case of automobiles, road tests of B40 had already begun in June 2022 and it is likely that B40 will be introduced as early as 2025. The government hopes to cut around IDR 144 trillion or USD 9 billion of spending in foreign currencies if B40 becomes widely used. |
