China=Sanjiang Chemical to build 1.00mil mt-size ethylene project

Chinese Petrochemical company Sanjiang Chemical held a groundbreaking ceremony for a 1.00mil mt-size ethylene project at China Chemical New Material (Jiaxing) Park.

The project involves an investment totaling 10.00 billion yuan and includes new facilities like a 1.25mil mt/year ethylene plant and a 1.00mil mt/year ethylene oxide (EO)/ethylene glycol (EG) unit. Completion is scheduled for August 2021.

The project plans to adopt the most advanced patent technology in the world at its ethylene facilities, which would use ethane, propane, and naphtha as major feedstocks. The facilities could avoid the risk of focusing on one raw material by diversifying feedstocks. At the same time, the facilities also could maximize profit by adjusting the use of each feedstock according to changes in their prices. In addition, the EO/EG units could change the proportion of the two types of products manufactured depending on market prices, so that profit margins could be maximized.

Sanjiang Chemical is a private company established in 2003, which currently has five 600,000mt/year EO units, three 40,000mt/year activator units, two 600,000mt/year polypropylene units, and one 120,000mt/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit.
