China Jul oil and gas production growth slows down

China crude oil production in July was relatively stable while refining throughput rose sharply. Crude oil production in July amounted to 16.46 mil mt, up 0.6% on year. The pace of increase was down 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. Refining throughput increased 12.4% on year to 59.56 mil mt. For the period January to July, crude oil production rose 1.4% on year to 113.5 mil mt while refining throughout increased 2.3% on year to 380 mil mt.

Crude imports rose sharply. In July, China imported 51.29 mil mt of crude oil, up 25.0% from the same period last year. Total crude imports for the period January to July increased 12.1% on year to 320 mil mt.

Natural gas production rose but the pace of the increase slowed down. In July, China produced 14.2 bil cubic meters of natural gas, up 4.8% from the same period last year. The pace of growth fell 6.5 percentage points from the previous month. For the period January to July, natural gas production totaled 108.3 bil cubic meters, up 9.5% on year.

Natural gas imports rose in June but dropped in July. China imported 7.35 mil mt of natural gas in July, up 11.5% from the previous month but down 6.9% on year. Total natural gas imports for the period January to July were 55.71 mil mt, up 1.9% on year.
