China Jan-Mar marine output rises 5.7% on year

According to the Department of Natural Resources of China, the country痴 marine economy recovered strong during the quarter January to March. Gross marine product during this period was estimated to be Yuan 2.4 trillion, up 5.7% on year.

Offshore power development experienced robust growth. During January to March, new construction of offshore wind power facilities was about 13 mil kW and power generation increased by 34% on year.

Further, traditional marine industries are also growing steadily. For January to March, offshore oil and gas production increased by 5.5% and 10% respectively compared to the same period last year. Shipbuilding activities are also vibrant. Orders for new ships received by China rose by more than 20% on year. Marine cargo turnover and transportation volumes grew by 8.9% and 7.7% respectively from the same period last year. With tourism recovering, marine passenger transportation volume rose by 9% compared to the same period in 2019.
