Recently, Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum released its first environmental impact assessment for its 10 million tons/year refining and petrochemical integration project. Yanchang Petroleum plans to build a 10 million tons/year crude distillation unit (CDU), a 1.2 million tons/year ethylene unit, and other related refining and petrochemical plants, while shutting down and renovating existing plants. The total investment is about Yuan 80.29 billion.

The project is mainly to process crude oil produced by Yanchang Petroleum, supplemented by crude oil produced by the Changqing Oilfield. The proportion of oil products and petrochemical products is reduced from 9:1 to 5:5, greatly reducing the proportion of oil products and increasing the proportion of chemical products.
