The Zhenhai Refining & Chemical expansion project, under the Sinopec group, began construction of a 11 million ton/year crude distillation unit (CDU), a 600,000 ton/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and downstream processing units in June 2022. Construction is expected to be completed in December 2024. According to industry sources, the CDU unit is expected to be put into operation by the end of this year or early next year, and the PDH unit is expected to be put into operation in the second half of 2025.

In addition, construction of a 1.5 million tons/year ethylene plant and downstream processing units, which began in November 2023, was scheduled to be completed by December 2025. Production is expected to start in 2026.
