PTTGC starts SAF production
PTT Global Chemical, a subsidiary of PTT in Thailand, started producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the country for the first time in January. SAF is produced from waste and renewable energy, and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
PTTGC plans to produce 6 mil kiloliters of SAF per year, using used cooking oil as the main raw material. The company will expand its production to 24 mil kiloliters in the future. Meanwhile, Thailand's Bangchack, a major energy company involved in refining, biofuels and power generation, was also scheduled to start producing SAF commercially this year. The government of Thailand will implement a 1% SAF blend in 2026 with the proportion increasing in the following years.
