India targets 30% ethanol blending with gasoline by 2030
The Indian government aims to increase the ethanol blending ratio with gasoline to 30% for automobile fuels by 2030. The government decided to advance the achievement of the 20% ethanol blending ratio with gasoline in 2025-2026. A lot of domestically-produced automobiles can use 20% ethanol blending gasoline (E20) in the country. The ratio of ethanol blending was believed to have risen to around 14.6% by the end last year. India introduced ethanol blending gasoline in 2001 in order to reduce imports of petroleum products by increasing uses of ethanol that is domestically produced by sugarcane.
