According to the "China Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Report 2025" released by the National Energy Administration, global crude oil production reached 4.8 billion tons in 2024, an increase of 41.6 million tons or 1% on year. Global natural gas production reached 4.07 trillion cubic meters in 2024, an increase of 17.3 billion cubic meters or 0.4% on year.

In 2024, China's domestic oil and gas production equivalent reached 409 million tons, maintaining a rapid growth of about 10 million tons for eight consecutive years. Of this, crude oil production reached 213 million tons, and natural gas production reached 246.5 billion cubic meters, increasing by about 24 million tons and 86 billion cubic meters, respectively, compared to 2018.
