Vietnam to sell E10 biofuel nationwide from Jun
Vietnam has decided to roll out nationwide sales of E10 biofuel, a blend of 10% ethanol with petroleum-based gasoline, starting in June. Sales of E10 were initially launched in August last year in three major cities Hanoi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City and adoption has since progressed steadily.
Meanwhile, E5 gasoline (RON 92), which contains a 5% ethanol blend, is expected to remain on sale until the end of 2030. About 60% of ethanol used as a blending component is currently estimated to be sourced domestically. With the wider adoption of E10, Vietnam's ethanol imports are likely to increase. Market sources also said the government is considering introducing E15 biofuel, with a 15% ethanol blend, from 2031.
