Brunei refining project Phase 1 exceeds 8 mil tons output

Hengyi Petrochemical released its 2025 annual report on Apr 15. According to the report, the output of Phase 1 of the Brunei refining and petrochemical project in 2025 was close to 8.23 million tons. Among the main products, gasoil output was about 3.43 million tons, PX output was about 1.52 million tons, and benzene output was 574,100 tons.

Phase 1 of the project a production capacity of 8 million tons/year. Crude oil is primarily sourced locally from Brunei and from Malaysia, with purchase prices benchmarked against Brent crude oil. The finished products are mainly sold to Southeast Asia, Australia, and other regions.

Phase 2 of the project has a capacity of 12 million tons/year, with construction targeted for completion by the end of 2028. Once completed, the total capacity of the Brunei refinery will reach 20 million tons/year.
