Thailand's First CCS Project Targets Operation in 2028

PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), a subsidiary of PTT in Thailand, made the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the country's first Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility late last year. PTTEP is an energy exploration and production (E&P) company operating domestically and internationally. This CCS project will be constructed at the Arthit gas field, located offshore Songkhla province in the Gulf of Thailand, located on the Malay Peninsula in the south of Thailand. It is designed to inject CO2 into geological formations 1,000 to 2,000 meters underground, with a maximum capture and storage capacity of 1 million mt of CO2 per year. The project targets 2028 for the start of storage operations
