Changqing Oilfield, the largest oil and gas field in China, produced more than 30 mil mt of oil equivalent in the first half of this year, while generating 150,800mt of coal equivalent in new energy and 344 mil kWh of green electricity at the same time. Changqing Oilfield is a core energy supply base in northern China, producing about one-sixth of China's total oil and gas output annually. Since the beginning of this year, the oilfield has been promoting efficient exploration and new energy development, continuously enhancing the stability and sustainability of its energy supply. Changqing Oilfield is accelerating the construction of a multi-energy complementary new energy system to solve the problem of coordinating the supply of traditional fossil energy with carbon reduction and emission reduction. The oilfield has established an integrated model of exploration to find reserves, carbon injection to improve gas reservoirs, and carbon sequestration to reduce emissions, simultaneously achieving increased oil and gas production and permanent carbon dioxide sequestration. To date, Changqing Oilfield has injected over 1.1 mil mt of carbon dioxide underground. In addition, as of the end of June this year, Changqing Oilfield had generated more than 1.4 billion kWh of green electricity, which was directly supplied to drilling and oil production sites, significantly reducing the consumption of fossil energy in oil and gas extraction. The industrial trend of coordinated development between the traditional oil and gas business and new energy is taking shape at an accelerated pace. |
