In Indonesia, Pertamina Patra Niaga started shipping B50 biodiesel fuel in July. B50 is a blend of 50% diesel oil and 50% fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) produced from palm oil, and is used as a fuel for land transportation. Indonesia currently mandates the use of B40, with a 40% blending ratio. Pertamina Patra Niaga is a subsidiary of state-owned Pertamina responsible for commercial operations and trading.

　In second-half July, Pertamina Patra Niaga made its first shipments of B50, comprising 4,600 kiloliters from the Kasim refinery and 8,230 kiloliters from the Plaju refinery. The shipments followed Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's announcement on Jul 9 of the nationwide introduction of B50. According to recent information, if B50 becomes the standard blend, annual crude palm oil (CPO) consumption for biodiesel production is expected to rise by 12% from current levels to around 17mil mt.
