JPN H2YDRO succeeds world's first zero-carbon tugboat navigation

The consortium led by JPN H2YDRO, the joint venture of Tsuneishi Group and CMB, succeeded zero-carbon navigation of tugboat "TEN-OH" with co-firing of hydrogen and Bio-diesel fuel(B100).

This is the world's first zero-carbon navigation of tugboats without greenhouse gas (GHG) emission by using hydrogen and B100. The Nippon Foundation supported the project.

"TEN-OH" is equipped with a medium-speed engine that can co-fire hydrogen, and with high-pressure hydrogen gas storage and supply system.

A tugboat needs high power output to push and pull large ships. In the trial, the tugboat showed that there were no performance issues during the operations with the use of B100. Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd supplied B100.
