Kansai to abolish Gobo No1, No2 units
Kansai Electric Power announced on Sep 26 that it would abolish the No1 and No2 units (600MW x 2) at its Gobo oil-fired thermal power station one after another. The power utility will abolish the No1 unit on Jun 30, 2026 and the No2 unit on Oct 31 this year. The company made the decision, considering aging facilities for these units and a chance in business environment such as operational status. The No2 unit has been mothballed since Apr 1, 2019. As for the No3 unit, the power utility had no plan to abolish it and the unit would continue to be operating.
