Tohoku Electric Power Co announced on May 25 that Onagawa nuclear power station Unit 2 (with a capacity of 825,000 kW, BWR type, in Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture), which had resumed power generation, experienced a deviation from operational limits. According to the company, in one of the four detectors measuring radiation levels in the piping that carries steam generated in the reactor to the turbine, an alarm indicating high radiation levels was triggered. However, after conducting an inspection, no abnormalities were found in the transmission cable connections or other aspects, and it was confirmed that it was indicating correct values. Furthermore, there were no problems with the unit's operational status, as a result, the company increased power output. As of 10:20 JST on May 26, power output was 833,000 kW.
