Tropical depression formed on May 26 to develop into typhoon soon

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced on May 26 that a tropical depression formed in the Caroline Islands. Its central pressure was 1,006 hectopascals. Maximum sustained winds near its center were 15 meters and maximum gust speed was 23 meters. This tropical depression is expected to develop into a typhoon within the next 24 hours. Around May 29, it is forecast to move northward east of the Philippines with storm-force winds, and then subsequently has the potential to continue developing and move northward south of Japan.
