The opening of the international LNG conference "LNG 2026 Qatar", to be held in Doha, Qatar from 2 to 5 Feb, is fast approaching. This marks the 21st iteration of the event, which will gather over 16,000 LNG professionals from around the world. This year's theme is "Leading LNG: Powering Today and Tomorrow." Global LNG trade volumes are projected to rise from approximately 420 mil mt in 2025 to around 580 mil mt by 2030, potentially reaching 720 mil mt by 2040. LNG is attracting heightened attention both within and beyond the energy sector, serving as fuel for the globally increasing thermal power generation and as a bridge fuel towards achieving decarbonization.
Organizer LNG 2026 Qatar expressed its ambition: "We aim to foster insightful discussions and nurture partnerships to promote the growth and long-term stability of the entire LNG industry." At the conference, industry experts including the CEOs of state-owned Qatar Energy, US-based ExxonMobil, and Italy's Eni will deliver presentations and participate in discussions on addressing growing energy demand and LNG's role in supporting economic development. Additionally, numerous technical sessions will cover topics such as technological challenges in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from LNG shipping. Furthermore, over 300 companies, including Glenfarne - noted for its involvement in the US Alaska project - will exhibit at the Qatar International Convention Centre, showcasing the latest LNG technologies. A Japanese trading company planning to attend expressed its hopes: "We aim to further strengthen partnerships with customers at this well-attended conference."
