Gastech 2026, one of the world's largest conferences and exhibitions focused on natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG), opened in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sep 14. The event, which began in 1972, attracted approximately 53,000 participants from more than 150 countries and regions. Government officials, including Thai Prime Minister Anutin and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, attended the opening programs. Over the four-day event, participants will discuss the future of the gas industry, including the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and synthetic methane. Additionally, more than 1,000 companies are exhibiting at the venue, seeking to expand business opportunities and strengthen industry partnerships.

　 In his opening remarks, dmg events President Hudson noted that despite growing geopolitical uncertainty following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East in late February, the global economy continued to expand, including in the host city of Bangkok. He stressed that natural gas and LNG play a vital role in ensuring reliable power generation and also serve as key feedstocks for fertilizer production. Furthermore, LNG, which emits less carbon dioxide than oil and coal, is expected to serve as a "backbone" of the energy transition, according to Thai Energy Minister Akanat.

　 General Manager Lekoma of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), attending Gastech for the first time, said she hopes to broaden her professional network and gain insights into the latest developments in the industry.
