According to data released by Japan Petrochemical Industry Association on Sep 18, production of ethylene in August was at 427,000mt, up 5.8% from the same month last year. Compared to the previous month, production increased by 10.4% since turnaround of some ethylene facilities was completed. The number of ethylene facilities that underwent turnaround was one company's one facility in August 2024, two companies' two facilities in July 2025 and one company's one facility in August 2025. Operation rates of ethylene facilities that were in operation in August were at 81.9%, up 0.2points from the same month last year and up 4.4points from the previous month.
