According to data released by Japan Petrochemical Industry Association, production volume of ethylene in August was 389,400mt, down 6.9% year-on-year. Operating rates of ethylene facilities were lower than in the same month last year. Compared to July 2026, production volume increased by 4.6%. Operating rates of facilities that were in operation in August 2026 were at 73.5%, down 6.7 points from August 2025. Compared to July 2026, the rates rose by 3.7points. The number of ethylene facilities that underwent turnaround were one company's one facility in August 2026, two companies' two facilities in July 2026, and one company's one facility in August 2025.
