JERA closed a buy tender closed on Aug 11 for one cargo per month, that is, 17 cargoes in total to be delivered during November 2022 to March 2024. In addition to this winter, the tender included a large quantity for winter delivery for the next year. Regarding this, a European trader said that on top of securing supply during the peak demand seasons in winter as well as summer, persistent concerns on supply from the 10.80mil mt/year Sakhalin 2 project and the expiry of several term contracts made JERA move on spot purchase. Among term contracts JERA holds, the one for the 5.60mil mt/year Das Island project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had expired in March this year. Moreover, contracts were scheduled to terminate in December for the 3.70mil mt/year Darwin project in Australia and in December 2023 for the 7.20mil mt/year Brunei project. The latter contract was signed together with other Japanese utilities such as Tokyo Gas Co Ltd.

State-own Pakistan LNG (PLL) issued a buy tender for a cargo each month for six years starting from January 2023. It would be 72 cargoes in total. PLL requested offers linked to the Brent crude oil market. The company was reportedly experiencing gas shortage as a term contract with European Gunvor had expired in July. As reported, regarding fuels for power generation, LNG was being replaced by heavy oil including furnace oil in Pakistan.

Angola LNG closed a sell tender closing Aug 10 for a cargo loading from the 5.20 mil mt/year Angola project. The cargo could be delivered to Brazil, Chile, Europe, Kuwait, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, China, Taiwan, or Japan. The earliest delivery date was on Aug 21 and the latest loading date was on Sep 23. The previous tender closed by the company on Aug 3 might have been cancelled. Some players believed that the company reopened the tender closing Wednesday. In the previous tender, the earliest delivery date was on Aug 14 and the latest loading date was on Sep 15.
