LNG=Apr 14-18: Production troubles at LNG projects in Asia-Pacific
In the DES Northeast Asia(NEA) market last week, the front delivery rose to around $11.75. Production troubles in Asia-Pacific raised prices. The 29.30 mil mt/year Bintulu project in Malaysia has allegedly been in an outage since second-half of last week. However, the state-run Petronas did not announce it; on the contrary, four ships have already shipped from the project this week. "We have not received a request to accept a delay in shipment yet. Maybe Malaysia thinks it can solve the trouble soon," a Japanese city gas company said. The schedule of full recovery of the 8.90 mi mt/year Ichthys project in Australia has remained unclear; neither was the outcome of the tender closed by Ichthys LNG on Apr 16 to deliver cargo to Taiwan on May 17.
--FOB Middle East, DES South Asia and the Middle East Kuwait Petroleum Corp(KPC) bought cargo delivered to the 22.00 mil mt/year Al Zour terminal from May 1 to Jun 30 via a tender closed on Apr 15 at $11's, though winners were not heard.
--FOB Atlantic, DES Europe and South America US Venture Global announced on Apr 15 that it commenced the commercial operations at its 10.00 mil mt/year Calcasieu Pass project. Portuguese Galp Energia on Apr 16 loaded the cargo to the 180,000 X-DF carrier, "Gaslog Wellington," from the project, a source said. Despite starting the shipment from the project in 2022, Venture Global continued to sell the project's cargo in the spot market for over three years, saying the project was still in the commissioning stage due to the unstable production caused by the power troubles.
