LNG: Jun 30-Jul 4: End-users in NEA accelerates puchasing
End-users in Northeast Asia have been proceeding with spot procurement to meet an increase in demand for power amid scorching weather. Not all players were allowed to join the tender; different delivery schedules appeared to be required by different sellers. In the Tohoku area, some inland locations have begun to record over 35 degrees Celsius as the daily maximum temperature, deriving expected strong demand for air conditioning. Hot temperatures were also applied in and south to the Tohoku Area, implying that other utilities might follow Tohoku Electric in procurement in response to the enhanced running of gas-fired power plants. Moreover, "Rainy season is forecasted to end quite earlier than usual across the nation, which lets us worry about drought in summer. The water reservoir levels in dams are enough at this moment; however, spells of hot weather and little rain will make us nervous," was heard from a power company.
--FOB Middle East, DES South Asia and the Middle East State-run Gujarat State Petroleum Corp (GSPC) issued a DES buy tender closing Thursday. The company was looking for a cargo to be delivered to the 5.00 mil mt/year Mundra terminal on Aug 16-27.
--FOB Atlantic, DES Europe and South America Colombia's state-owned Calamari LNG one cargo for Jul 14-24 delivery from British BP via a tender floated on Jun 27. The country has recently aimed to replenish inventory during the off-demand season from March to June; the same thing has been applied for this year, but it still appears to be engaged in it even at this moment.
