Crude/Condensate: Sep 15-19: Idemitsu buys Mars crude

--Africa/Europe/Russia/America

Some end-users in Northeast Asia such as Japan and Korea moved on buying Mars for December arrival. Idemitsu Kosan bought 1mil barrels of Mars for December arrival from European Trafigura at premiums in the $4's to Dubai quotes. Idemitsu has sold 500,000barrels of November-loading Qatar Marine to European Glencore late last weekend as reported. One trader in Singapore reckoned that Idemitsu optimized its portfolio by selling Qatar Marine and buying competitively priced Mars. Apart from that, Hyundai Oilbank purchased 2mil barrels of Mars for December arrival although the price and the seller were unknown.

In the trade of Iraqi crudes, talks for October-loading Basrah Medium made progress. Indonesia's state-owned Pertamina on Monday closed a sell tender for 1.0 mil bbl of BM for October-loading as reported, while Korean National Oil Co (KNOC) floated a sell tender for 2.0 mil bbl of BM for delivery in October. KNOC offered BM from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) this time. KNOC has an equity for Iraqi crudes and fill own demand while they occasionally move to resell cargoes like this time.

In the trade of November-loading Vietnamese grades, state-owned PetroVietnam (PV) Oil awarded its Chim Sao sell tender. Australian Ampol with demand for regional grades won the tender at a competitive price. The price was heard at a premium of above $6.00 to Dated Brent. Ampol would bring the cargo to its 104,000 barrels per day Lytton refinery in Queensland in Australia. The running rate at the refinery was reduced due to a glitch at the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) in August.
